Course Description
This groundbreaking course is designed to equip project managers, development practitioners, and humanitarian actors with the critical skills to integrate protection and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) considerations into every phase of the project cycle. Participants will explore gender-sensitive planning, protection mainstreaming, and GBV risk mitigation, ensuring that their interventions do no harm and actively promote equity, inclusion, and safety for all. Using global standards like IASC, SPHERE, and Do No Harm, this course prepares professionals to design and implement survivor-centered, inclusive, and accountable programs across sectors and settings, including conflict, disaster, displacement, and development contexts.
Course Objectives
- Understand the core concepts of protection and gender-based violence in project settings
- Apply global frameworks and standards (e.g., IASC GBV Guidelines, SPHERE)
- Integrate GBV risk mitigation across the project cycle: assessment, design, implementation, and M&E
- Design and implement protection mainstreaming strategies in sectoral programs (WASH, Shelter, Livelihoods, etc.)
- Ensure meaningful participation of women, girls, and marginalized groups in projects
- Monitor, evaluate, and adapt projects to respond to emerging protection and GBV concerns
- Promote ethical and survivor-centered approaches in project delivery
